Competitiveness Council (COMPET)

The role of the Competitiveness Council is to ensure an integrated approach to the enhancement of competitiveness and growth in Europe. The Council meets four times annually and deals with four major EU policy fields: internal market, industry, space, research and innovation. As the development of the Single Market is one of the main policy areas for the Competitiveness Council, 2012 is an important year in this respect, as it marks the 20th anniversary of the completion of the Single Market.
