The Conference will take place in Nicosia, at the Conference Centre ‘FILOXENIA’, on November 14, 2012. It is organised by the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus (www.research.org.cy) in collaboration with the Planning Bureau of Cyprus (www.planning.gov.cy) with the support of the European Commission.
The objective of the Conference is to bring together European Research Area – ERA (http://ec.europa.eu/research/era/index_en.htm) stakeholders such as research organisations, universities, private enterprises and public authorities to contribute to the debate on the policy measures and actions which must be implemented with a view to completing ERA by 2014. During the Conference key specific and cross-cutting issues of ERA policy will be explored, including, inter alia, the effectiveness of national research systems, open labour market for researchers, research infrastructures, gender issues, knowledge transfer and open access issues, cross border cooperation and competition of research actors, international cooperation and the monitoring mechanism. The aim is to gather around 200 participants.
The Conference will feature key-note speeches from Mr Robert-Jan Smits, Director General of DG Research and Innovation and Ms Eleni Mavrou, Cyprus Minister of Interior, who is responsible for the Research Portfolio until the end of the Cyprus Presidency.
