The Education, Youth, Culture and Sport (EYCS) Council brings together Ministers responsible for education, culture, youth, the media, communication and sport. Its actual composition depends on the items for discussion. As the areas covered by this Council configuration fall mainly within the remit of member states, the role of the EYCS is therefore to encourage the cooperation between them. Nevertheless, the education policy constitutes a key component of the Europe 2020 strategy. The Ministers meet three or four times a year, generally twice in full configuration.
