The Biodiversity and Nature Directors Meeting has a main purpose the exchange of views in an informal environment on policy issues concerning biodiversity and nature issues. The main scope of this meeting is to give guidance to the further implementation work of both the nature directives and the biodiversity strategy. The meeting in Cyprus will take place on the 17-18 September, 2012 in Paphos. The first day will be open to NGOs apart from competent authorities and will include the discussion on nature directives and biodiversity issues, as well as financing NATURA 2000, while the second day the session will be closed with discussions again on legal aspects as well as the implementation of various targets of the biodiversity strategy. A site visit will take place at the end of the first day at the Akamas Peninsula. Attendance is expected to reach 80-90 participants.
